Every little helps when it comes to being a student (although just you wait until you're a graduate) and I remember that September feeling well - when you've just started back at uni and the discounts come a rollin' - oh yeah.
Any art/graphic design/illustration student knows that materials ain't cheap so stocking up when the loan comes in is absolutely vital. Thankfully that's where the likes of London Graphic Centre come in with their annual Student Day, perfect for bulking up on those Staedtler fineliners, Windsor & Newton paints and of course, those trusty Promarkers.
This year the event is bigger and better than ever with freebies, workshops and competitions all throughout the day as well as a super 20% off store-wide goods. If you spend over £15 on the day you'll also receive a bit of a creative goodie bag and who the hell doesn't like free stuff?!
The guys at LGC kindly sent me over one of the bags to show you (styled by yours truly above) so here's what's in store if you visit. Featured in my bag was a wide range of things from a Pigma Micron fineliner to Mt Washi Tape to some rather amazing Graphik Line Markers and Staedtler 'green' pencils. However, I think everyone will be slightly different and 1 in every 8 goody bags will also include a bonus prize worth up to £130 - that's pretty good odds if you ask me.
Other events that will take place in store include a 'Build-your-own' pop-up keyring workshop with Freitag, a live illustration demo by Carne Griffiths, a POSCA illustration wall and most excitedly over 300 illustrated tees from my mates at People of Print will be up for grabs. Don't bloomin' miss it.
The 2016 London Graphic Centre Student Day will be held at its flagship Covent Garden store on Tuesday 4th October, 10am – 7pm. See some of my own selections below and let me know what you buy yourself!
1 // Derwent Graphik Line Pens, 2// Promarker Set in Vibrant Tones, 3 // Marabu Easy Marbling Ink, 4 // Always Never Notebook, 5 // Pantone Premium Metallic Chips
Disclaimer: The London Graphic Centre provided one of the goodie bags free of charge for the purpose of this post but all fine liner hoarding, discount-lovin' views and selection to feature my own.
